01/27/2017 We Strive to be Communicators!
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Learner Profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. The Profile implies a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them. The Profile consists of 10 attributes. This week we have focused on the attribute, Communicator.
Thank you to Mrs. Nixon’s class for helping us learn more about being communicators!
Communicators express themselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in different ways. Communicators can express their ideas by speaking, drawing, using technology, and writing. They can also communicate using mathematical, musical, and artistic language and symbols. Communicators collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.

01/25/2017 2017 Trivia Winners
Congratulations to the 2017 Trivia Winners, Inquizition! They were able to hold onto their title for two years in a row.
Thank you to all of the Annunciation Trivia teams. Keep studying and memorizing trivial facts to get ready for next year!
We know that great schools have great teachers – and to be the best teacher, you also need to be the best learner. At Annunciation, we are taking this call to heart and learning right along with our students. For teachers, one of the greatest parts of working in education is that we never stop learning. There are so many formal and informal opportunities for us to grow as educators. Our students lead the charge in the classroom and also by adapting the new IB principles to the learning process. We are part of a big learning community and join our students in a quest to be “Life-long learners.”

There are two major Peace and Justice Issues that are brought to our attention during the month of January.

The WordMasters Challenge consists of three 20-minute analogy-solving meets held at school throughout the year (December, February and April). Prior to each meet, the students are given a list of 25 challenging vocabulary words that appear in the Challenge Test analogies. Excellence in the competition requires both a mastery of the word meanings and thoughtful reasoning about the relationships between the words.
