  • 03/10/2017 Taking Action in International Baccalaureate (IB)

    School Events, International Baccalaureate, Weekender

Action is something you do, right? Actually, action is much more than that.  Action is a part of who we are.

Has your child ever come home from school explaining all the reasons for shutting off the water while you brush your teeth?  If she has, then she is taking action because of what she has learned.  Taking action is one of the five essential elements of IB and part of the inquiry cycle, or part of learning. We ask, "How can we do something with what we have learned?" and "How has my thinking changed since the beginning of our inquiry?"  When we take action, we make connections to new knowledge. Our students are learning that inquiry can lead to action and that even the smallest actions can make a difference

  • 03/09/2017 There Is a Time for Everything

    School Events, Weekender

    Dear Annunciation Parents,

When I was hired at Annunciation school 45 years ago, I was armed with the belief that if you develop a program for children that nurtures and encourages creativity through improvisation, movement, music and art, it would strengthen them in all aspects of their lives.  It would open up their potential and their possibilities, giving them confidence and courage to succeed. I was met with some misgivings, but more than enough support to get things started. And so began the Creative Arts Program. I will always be grateful to Sister Monique and Monsignor Colbert, who took a chance on me then, and to all the principals and pastors who have supported me since.
