On April 10th and 11th, we welcomed International Baccalaureate (IB) Consultant, Ms. Kathy Couillard. Ms. Couillard is the principal at Handley IB World School in Saginaw, Michigan. During her visit, Ms. Couillard toured our school, took part in the all-school morning meeting, observed teaching and learning in all K-5 and Specialists' classrooms, reviewed curriculum and instruction documents (planners), and met with parents and our staff. After experiencing all of this, Ms. Couillard was able to help us craft an action plan for applying for authorization as an IB World School.

04/21/2017 Safety First Part Duex
Volunteers needed Saturday, April 29th to run wire in the main school for updated PA/Lockdown System.
Phase 2 of the new PC Lockdown system is ready to install and we could use some parent help in running wire from classroom to classroom to finish this important safety improvement.
We need to run a new line to each class room in the main school (middle school is complete) so the vendor can install and test the system. We are looking for 10+ volunteers to accomplish this goal and make our school even more safe for our kids.
The work, in most cases, is as simple as helping keep wiring from tangling while its being pulled to a classroom.
Tools to bring: step ladder/stool, gloves, wire hanger, electrical tape, wire snips, screwdrivers.

04/13/2017 Let’s Get Creative!
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) balances the acquisition of knowledge and skills, the development of conceptual understanding, the formation of attitudes and the capacity to take responsible action.
The IB Attributes include caring, balanced, risk-taker, open-minded, communicator, inquirer, knowledgeable, principled, reflective and thinker. These IB-PYP Attitudes include appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect, and tolerance.
In the IB, creativity is defined as "being creative and imaginative in their thinking and in their approach to problems and dilemmas."
Thanks to Ms. Caldwell’s class for sharing what they think it means to be creative.
Are you currently bringing Holy Communion to the homebound?
We are trying to assess the current pastoral care being provided to our community in order to ensure all our homebound parishioners are having their needs meet. If you are currently bringing Holy Communion to the homebound, will you please contact Ashleigh Varley at 612.824.9993 ext. 256, or email: email@example.com.
Are you being called to serve as an EMHC? Do you have the desire to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass or to bring Holy Communion to the homebound?
If so, EMHCs must be trained and commissioned every three years. If you need to renew your training or if you desire to be trained for the first time, you are invited to attend one of two spring trainings in the Community Room of the church:
04/07/2017 IB Consultant Visit
On April 10th and 11th, we will welcome our International Baccalaureate (IB) Consultant, Ms. Kathy Couillard.
Ms. Couillard is the principal at Handley IB World School in Saginaw, Michigan. The role of the IB consultant is to support candidate schools in working towards meeting requirements for IB authorization. During her visit, Ms. Couillard will observe, document, and experience our progress as a candidate school. She will also collaborate with us in creating an action plan for achieving authorization. Annunciation is currently in its second year of being an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) candidate program. We plan to apply for authorization during the 2017-2018 school year.
04/07/2017 Strategic Plan and IB Implementation Update
During the 2013-14 school year, Annunciation completed our accreditation renewal process. Part of accreditation is to create a strategic plan for the next 7 years. As a community, we completed our plan and have been working to bring the strategic vision to life, using the plan to guide our work and improvement efforts.
The first objective was to “Position Annunciation as a Catholic leader, recognized for educating the whole child.” We want Annunciation School to provide the strongest academic experience within our Catholic environment. After research and discussion, we identified the International Baccalaureate program as a great fit for Annunciation School as we seek to become a Catholic school leader. We began the journey as a candidate school in fall of 2014 for the Primary Years Program (PYP), starting with our elementary program and building up.
