07/16/2017 2nd Grade Grandparents & VIP Tea
One of Annunciation's special traditions is the 2nd grade Grandparent and Very Important Person (VIP) Tea. This year's celebration will be on Thursday, October 5th. The Tea will start at 1:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. We celebrate this special occasion with music, treats and socializing. We understand that not all of our 2nd graders have a grandparent or grandparents who are able to attend; we encourage these students to invite a Very Important Person (VIP) to join us. In addition to the afternoon tea, families, grandparents, and VIPs are welcome to join our school and church community for mass at 8:15 a.m in the church. Invitations for the Tea will be mailed in September.
I would like to express thanks to you for all the support notes and prayer that our participants experienced from you, our Annunciation parishioners, during the June 2-3 retreat for the 11 staff members of Breaking Free (St. Paul) and Terebinth Refuge (St. Cloud). Both of these organizations are dedicated to assisting women in rebuilding lives after escaping sex trafficking. These women’s hearts were deeply touched by all your prayer for them and the letters of support they received from many of you. One of the retreatants has all her notes posted in her office space so that she can constantly be reminded of your support. Terry Forliti, Executive Director of Breaking Free, in her amazement for your thoughtfulness said, “We don’t get thank-yous for what we do – ever!”
This retreat was made possible through some very generous donations from the Minnesota Vikings, Mary’s Pence and other anonymous donors. Please check out the article about this retreat in the July 14th edition of the Catholic Spirit: http://thecatholicspirit.com/news/local-news/religious-sisters-host-retreat-women-working-trafficking-victims/.
