  • 04/28/2017 Improv 2017

School Events, Enrichment, Principal Cassidy's News & Notes, Weekender

This week the 7th & 8th grade classes present their Improv show. As a Catholic school, we believe each child is created by God with individual talents and gifts. We strive, in our time with them, to develop these gifts and help them grow in confidence and faith. We do this in many ways, but our Creative Arts program provides one of the most unique ways to achieve this goal.

I was able to attend the Thursday night performance.  The students did a fabulous job of performing!  After many weeks of rehearsals and countless hours of preparation, the students shared these talents with us in a great way.  The Improv production is truly the crowning achievement for our students.

When you watch the show, it is thrilling to see the students come into their own and literally speak up to be heard and stand tall to be noticed, sharing that pride in the work they have created together. Creative Arts teacher Mrs. Strickland, along with Mrs. Nesvig, coach the students to project their lines to the crowded auditorium and to physically expand their presence on the stage. If you look closely you can almost see the kids mature as the show progresses.

Improv is a unique experience and one that Annunciation is very proud of and for good reason. Congratulations Improv class of 2017!
