Community at the Core

Mar 16th, 2018

What an amazing week we have had as a community – the Stuff the Bus service project, All School prayer service, Scholastic Book Fair, parent-teacher conferences, and even 'PI day' for our mathematicians.  Our middle school students were great faith leaders as they created our prayer service for PEACE. As always, it was wonderful to see so many parents for conferences. We love being able to share the many moments of learning and growth with you.

Growing and Learning as a School

After much research, discussion and planning, we have two big initiatives coming forth at Annunciation.

Middle School 1:1 – next fall, we will begin our 1:1 Chromebook program for students in grades 6-8. Our teachers, staff and School Advisory Council have spent months preparing for the rollout next fall. We have identified many positive aspects to providing this tool to enhance our teaching and learning. We are working with a consultant to plan and train our teachers. Mr. Pupkes was a pilot program this year, using Chromebooks in his social studies classes. He is excited to share some highlights with us this spring as we look ahead to next year.

International Baccalaureate authorization visit – after 3 years of learning, planning, and implementation, we have an IB authorization visit coming on April 16 & 17. With inquiry, character, action and a global view at the heart of our efforts, the staff and students have transformed teaching and learning at Annunciation, fitting in the 21st century skills our children need. We are excited to share our school community and our journey with the visit team. We will receive our results sometime this summer. Pray for a successful visit so we can begin the next school year as an official IB World School.

Faith and Spirit

Our Lenten journey continues as we prepare for the Triduum and Easter, the highlight of our Catholic faith. Our staff retreat provided time to reflect and focus on our mission as Catholic school educators. We pray each day for God to bless us in our journey, helping us grow closer to God. Together, we are forming our young people in faith, learning and character.

Thanks for all you do to support us – we are truly blessed!
