IB Attitude: Confidence

Mar 24th, 2017

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) balances the acquisition of knowledge and skills, the development of conceptual understanding, the formation of attitudes and the capacity to take responsible action.

The IB Attributes include caring, balanced, risk-taker, open-minded, communicator, inquirer, knowledgeable, principled, reflective and thinker.  These IB-PYP Attitudes include appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect, and tolerance.

Thank you to Mrs. Steege’s home base for teaching us about confidence.  What a treat to see our students share their stories! (see video below) The IB defines confidence as feeling confident in our abilities as learners, having the courage to take risks, applying what we learn and taking appropriate action.

At Annunciation, we provide many opportunities for students (and staff) to be confident leaders and learners. We intentionally provide students with opportunities to shine! We help students see the connection between effort and success.  We provide opportunities for students to look back and reflect on how far they have come in their learning.   Most importantly, we work with students to focus on their strengths and share their gifts to make our school and world an even better place.  Nothing succeeds like success!
