Job Description

Annunciation School is a vibrant, Catholic school serving students from preschool through 8th grade. 

We are seeking a qualified, passionate middle school ELA and Learning Supports teacher. As an International Baccalaureate candidate school, Annunciation is looking for teachers who use inquiry instruction and student-focused activities to engage students in meaningful learning activities that meet the needs of a diverse group of students. We are seeking teachers who are open-minded, life-long learners and bring a global perspective to the learning experience. Collaboration with the team of teachers and specialists is critical to our success.

The ELA/Learning Supports teacher will provide instruction to 6th graders in English Language Arts as part of the ELA teaching team. In addition, this position will work with the administrative team and learning specialist to help oversee and support students with learning needs. We are seeking a teacher with leadership skills, experience with IEP/504 plans, interventions and supports for students with diverse learning styles. Experience with ELL and ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

As learning support staff, this teacher will:

  • Work alongside learning specialist.
  • Support students with learning plans.
  • Coordinate review of learning plans with middle school teachers prior to start of school and review as needed.
  • Schedule parent meetings and transition 5th to 6th grade students on learning plans.
  • Teach literacy intervention class.
  • Be liaison with Minneapolis counselor.

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a love for the Catholic faith and has a strong desire to share the faith with students.
  • Hold a valid Minnesota Teaching License.

  • Create a Christ-like atmosphere in which the needs of the whole child are met.
  • Utilize multiple instructional techniques and innovative approaches to ensure student success and engagement.
  • Develop and use instructional material suitable for a wide range of learning styles.
  • Incorporate technology into instruction and curriculum.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records and assessment data.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student and classroom management required to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the atmosphere of class. Possess an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure student successes.
  • Is a self-starter with the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks.
  • Provide opportunities for interventions and extra support for students.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
