Join the Robotics Team Today

Sep 29th, 2017

Join the ROBOTICS Team Today!! For 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Students.

The Annunciation Robotics team, GearHeadz, will begin it’s third year. Our team is part of the international robotics program called FIRST Tech Challenge. FTC Teams are for students in 7th through 12th grades. Each team includes 3 to 15 students and two adult coaches. The participants and coaches do not need to have prior engineering or computer science experience to participate.

Our team of students will collaborate to build and program a robot that competes on a 12’ by 12’ field against other teams in our area. The challenge is new each year and is designed to challenge participants to think critically, creatively, and to expand their knowledge of the engineering process.

The FTC challenge was announced in early September. The Minnesota qualifying events will occur from November to January. The Minnesota State Championship is in February. The team will meet two times per week, designing, building, and programming their robot.

Please submit your child’s registration by October 10th to the front desk at Annunciation if your child would like to join the Robotics team. The team may not exceed 15 participants so spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

We will also need two additional coach/mentors for our team and parents to volunteer to help with the build process and to support us at the competitions throughout the season. Please consider offering the team your talents.

Please email Jeremy Nichols at jnichols@annunciationmsp.org if you have additional questions. Thanks!
