“Let God Set Free”: A Retreat for Breaking Free

May 24th, 2017

Over the past few years Annunciation has been offering various kinds of support to the organization called Breaking Free in their efforts to serve the needs of women who have managed to escape the scourge of sex trafficking.

On June 2-3, some of us from Annunciation parish, along with members of the Congregation of St. Joseph (my own religious community), the Carondelet Sisters of St. Joseph, and a member of the Sinsinawa Dominicans will conduct a retreat for the woman who staff Breaking Free. You are invited to join in support for these women in one of two ways as they enter into their 28-hour retreat experience. 1) They will appreciate the support of prayer you wish to offer for them.

There will be a special time of prayer in our church from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Friday, June 2nd. This time of prayer will coincide with the midpoint of their retreat experience. 2) They will also appreciate notes of your prayer, care and support. If I receive these notes by noon on Thursday, June 1st, I will be happy to see that the retreatants receive them. Many of the Breaking Free staff are themselves survivors of sex trafficking and, in their healing, have responded to a call to assist others whose suffering is similar to their own. Their first names are listed below.
