We’ve Got Spirit…The Bear!

Jun 1st, 2017

Fifth grader Charlie B. knows that the Annunciation has spirit, but he also sees that something is missing.

So when trying to come up with a topic for a persuasive paper in 5th grade, he came up with a proposal to find a mascot for school.

He presented the idea to Mrs. Cassidy discussing the importance and positive impact of having a school mascot for Annunciation.  Then Charlie researched mascots and asked his classmates for their choice. "Spirit the Bear" was the choice of Charlie and his classmates.

After getting the go-ahead from Principal Cassidy, Charlie made his presentation to the School Advisory Council. The SAC approved the decision to have a school mascot and encouraged Charlie to get the student body involved. His next step was to ask his classmates to vote on a mascot to allow for all-school input.

At Monday morning meeting, Charlie shared the information with the students and each student was able to place their vote. And now we are ready to proudly announce that Annunciation School will have "Spirit the Bear" as our new school mascot!
