Septemberfest trash and YOU

Sep 10th, 2016

“The earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth.”
~Pope Francis

Septemberfest is a great time to build community, fun and friendships—unfortunately, it also is a time to build up a huge pile of filth. We are proud to be a part of a community that works very hard towards making Septemberfest a Zero Waste Event--meaning that most of our trash can be composted or recycled, resulting in very little actual trash. This is approximately the 10th year of working towards a Zero Waste Septemberfest, thanks to the leadership of the Green Team, namely Jimmy Dunn, Michael Reed, Wynne Yelland, and to the many “Garbage Gurus” who volunteer during the festival weekend to help separate trash from treasure. But it really relies on YOU, paying attention to what is compostable and recyclable. This year we have requested fewer “pods” of compost/recycle/trash bins to help all of us do a better job. (Hint: All the beverage cups and dinner ware are compostable.)

Thank you for helping us become a Zero Waste Community!
