We’re Hiring: Library/Media Specialist

Annunciation School is a vibrant, Catholic school serving students from preschool through 8th grade. We are seeking a qualified, passionate person for the part-time library/media position. The Library/Media Specialist will be part of a collaborative team, helping create a positive, engaging environment for learning. As an International Baccalaureate candidate school, Annunciation is looking for educators who use inquiry and student-focused activities to engage students in meaningful learning activities that meet the needs of a diverse group of students. IB educators are open-minded, life-long learners who bring a global perspective to the learning experience. Collaboration with the team of teachers and specialists is critical to our success.

The library/media center is central to an IB school environment. It is the goal of the Library/Media Specialist to provide accessible tools for students and staff to direct, enhance, and support the learning process. Knowledge of curricular areas is essential in order to serve the interdisciplinary needs of the learning community. It is the goal of the Library/Media Specialist to work in a flexible environment, collaborating with staff, teaching skills to students and staff, and maintaining the holdings of the Media Center.

  • Creates a Christ-like atmosphere in which the needs of the whole child are met
  • Demonstrates skills in computers, use of databases, and online resources
  • Is able to organize, catalogue, display, distribute and produce instructional materials
  • Selects and provides access to a wide variety of materials, which meet the needs of various learning situations.
  • Has the knowledge and ability to teach information and technology literacy needed for independent learning
  • Provides an environment conducive to quick accessibility, good study habits, and development of proficient library/media users
  • Shows flexibility in order to accommodate teachers, students, parents/guardians, and community members
  • Enjoys teamwork and collaboration as well as being independent and creative.
  • Is a self-starter with the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks
  • Has effective communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Keeps up to date and knowledgeable about age appropriate literature for grade K-8 children
  • Demonstrates a commitment to on-going professional development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent; or valid Minnesota Teaching license
  • Information and digital literacy teaching experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with the PYP/MYP programs and resources
  • Leadership skills
  • Cataloging and classifying library resources
