International Baccalaureate Candidate
We are proud to announce that Annunciation is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and is pursuing authorization as an IB School.
International Baccalaureate (IB) emphasizes creative problem solving, hands-on projects, inquiry-based learning, and community service. IB students “learn how to learn” by developing inquiry skills and seeking knowledge. The IB program encourages both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and personal development.
What is an IB education?
IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programs of international education that share a powerful vision.
An IB education:
• centers on learners
• develops effective approaches to teaching and learning
• works within global contexts
• explores significant content
The International Baccalaureate program strives to nurture students who are civic-minded; confident, competent communicators, skillful in problem solving and capable of creative thinking; and who are knowledgeable of our global and multicultural society.
International Baccalaureate is highly regarded throughout the U.S. and the world.
International Baccalaureate does not replace our current curriculum. Students continue to learn traditional subjects, meeting all state academic content standards. Rather, International Baccalaureate enhances current offerings at every level and provides a consistent focus and approach to learning.
The International Baccalaureate at Annunciation School is an exciting addition to our strong school tradition. The IB will benefit all students, creating a learning environment that engages and encourages growth for every learner at all levels.
