Ring those Bells!!! Perhaps by Easter???

The bells in our bell tower have been inoperable for years, but thanks to a
generous donor we may be on track to have them ringing by Easter! Wouldn’t
it be wonderful to hear the sounds of our bells as we gather to celebrate the
Eucharist each Sunday? And celebrate 100 years as a parish!!!

We are working with an expert bell company named Verdin who are literally
the go to bell company in the upper Midwest. There are four bells in our tower
each named after one of the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Verdin is familiar with just about every church and civic bell tower in the area
and they have informed us that “Matthew” is actually the second largest bell in
the city of Minneapolis. It’s also the one which has been stuck upside down for
many years.

Fixing the bells is not cheap especially given the length of time that they have
not been operable. They need new motors, strikers, computer controls, and
other miscellaneous equipment and all done by professionals who know what
they are doing. The total cost is $77,886. A generous donor has offered a
dollar-for-dollar challenge match up to $35,000. We just need to match that
amount. This is a great incentive to get us going! I’m so excited about this that
I am personally going to offer $1,100 so now all we need is $33,900 to meet
the match!

Ringing our bells is one way to proclaim our joy in Christ. It would contribute
wonderfully to our celebration of Easter this year, and every day after. As we
celebrate one hundred years as a parish this year, this seems a fitting and
God given opportunity to ring in the next century.
