World Read Aloud Day at Annunciation School
On February 5, Annunciation School will participate in "World Read Aloud Day."
The one day celebration of reading was created by LitWorld in 2010 "as an opportunity for people all around the globe to celebrate the joy of reading aloud, and advocate for literacy as a fundamental human right that belongs to everyone." We are excited to participate as we make this school year the “Year of the Reader.”
We have selected a classic children's picture book, The Snowy Day for every homeroom and homebase in kindergarten through eighth grade share the story with students. Jack Ezra Keats', The Snowy Day is a story about a city kid enjoying the thrill of a fresh snow on a winter day. Every Minnesotan has shared the joy of playing in the snow. The story is relatable, magical and a classic.
And The Snowy Day is the most circulated children's picture book at the NYC public library! https://www.npr.org/2020/01/13/795873639/the-new-york-public-library-has-calculated-its-most-checked-out-books-of-all-tim.
If you have a copy of The Snowy Day that you would be willing to lend your child’s teacher, please contact Megan Stebbins, mstebbins@annunciationmsp.org. We need about 9 more copies!
Thank you!
